Senior Landscape Architect

JBA Consulting are an independent company putting sustainability at the heart of environmental and engineering services. Our growing Landscape and Arboriculture team are seeking enthusiastic Landscape Architects with demonstrable post graduate consultancy experience. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a wide range of professionals developing innovative solutions to providing resilience to the adverse effects of climate change. A mainstay of our portfolio of projects is the water environment, covering management of coastal and fluvial erosion and flooding, and involving nature-based solutions such as sustainable drainage, river restoration and natural water management. We also integrate with teams delivering green and blue infrastructure, urban regeneration, residential development, renewable energy and transport infrastructure projects.
Location:
The post can be based in any of our offices in Portsmouth, Newport (South Wales), Coleshill, Saltaire, Newcastle or Edinburgh depending on the location of the right candidate. JBA supports agile working which provides for greater flexibility with the way that we work.
Qualifications and experience
Key competencies required for the role:
The right candidate will be able to:
1. Communicate effectively, orally, in writing and graphically
2. Be able to lead projects from inception to completion
3. Engage with internal and external clients to understand their requirements and collaboratively develop project briefs.
4. Lead meetings and effectively communicate both technical and business issues.
5. Lead small teams effectively, to plan approaches and methodologies, and deliver outputs in line with the scope and programme requirements.
6. Work independently and as part of teams, carry out reviews of completed work to check adherence to standards and procedures, and supervise and mentor junior staff
7. Liaise with clients, stakeholders and regulators in person and through digital communication.
8. Demonstrate alignment with JBA’s aim to have a positive impact on our colleagues, clients, suppliers, and the local communities and environments in which we work.
Ideally, candidates will have:
9. A recognised/accredited degree (or equivalent) in Landscape Architecture.
10. Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI), or experienced and on the Pathway to Chartership (P2C).
11. Full UK driving licence.
12. Varied portfolio, ideally with examples from schemes involving water management.
13. Experience in the design and implementation of hard and soft landscape works.
14. Knowledge and experience in preparing material for outline, full and reserved matters planning applications.
15. Strong understanding of the capabilities of design software to convey landscape proposals from concept stage, to detailed design and construction.
16. Commitment to developing sustainable and innovative solutions.
17. Ability to organise, plan and undertake site surveys, including preparation of site risk assessment.
18. Experience in landscape planning and EIA would be an advantage.
19. Interest in preparing tender submissions an advantage.
