The Getaway is a purpose built home located in Kirk Hallam, Ilkeston delivering short breaks or shared care to disabled children and young people aged from 9 to 17 years old. This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young people with severe learning difficulties, autism, challenging behaviour and profound physical disabilities. The successful candidate will work with a supportive management team, receive regular supervision, and be involved in helping to develop this service.

About the role
Our Night Care Assistants are responsible for the routine care and safety needs of the children within the home during the night. They provide responsive care and support using a person-centred approach based on the individual needs of the children and their families.
As a Night Care Assistant, you will need to have an openness to and an aptitude for relationship focused and psychologically informed working practices. You must have the appropriate skills and experience to perform and work within an environment that can, at times, require using your own initiative along with an understanding of the children act, the quality care standards and Children’s Homes (England) regulations 2015.
You must hold, be working towards, or be willing to undertake and complete within 2 years of starting work at the home, the Level 3 Children and Young people’s Workforce Diploma and Social Care Pathway (England) 2015. OR you should hold an equivalent qualification such as The NVQ 3 caring for children & young people and be prepared to complete any additional work to meet the required level. Night Care Assistant roles attract the following additional payments. This post is an overnight role, for the most part, and will include weekend and bank holiday working, as well as attendance at team meetings and reflective practice sessions. Night Care Assistants have the support of a Residential Childrens Worker who will sleep in, and wake, should the need arise.
