Safeguarding Officer

* Reporting to: Head of Safeguarding
* Salary: £26k-£28k

Dovetail and Slate are recruiting on behalf of a leading education provider based in Swindon.

Role Purpose
* Ensure safeguarding concerns are addressed promptly and accurately.
* Support students, especially those facing challenges like mental health or being care leavers.
* Help students build confidence to access support services independently and provide crisis intervention when necessary.
Responsibilities
* Handle safeguarding and welfare enquiries via email and phone, ensuring they meet guidelines.
* Support high-needs students, such as ESOL learners, young parents, and vulnerable adults, to help them stay in their courses.
* Provide immediate support to ensure young people and vulnerable adults are safe.
* Follow up on safeguarding incidents according to legal requirements.
* Work with other teams to ensure smooth transitions and ongoing support for high-needs students.
* Maintain up-to-date electronic records, and collaborate with parents, staff, and external agencies as needed.
* Help manage a caseload of students, assess risks, and coordinate interventions or referrals when necessary.
