Due to increased demand, our international logistics client in Essex is looking to hire an experienced Sea Freight Operator, predominantly focusing on deep sea imports (far East/Asia). This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday from 9am to 5:30pm.
As a Sea Freight Operator, you will be responsible for managing the operations from start to finish. On a day-to-day basis you'll be booking shipments with carriers to reconciling invoices, managing revenue, and controlling costs. You will liaise with customers, customs authorities, and third-party partners so being a confident communicator is vital, as is accuracy for dealing with customs clearance documents and gathering the necessary paperwork for cargo release/delivery.
Key Duties as Sea Freight Operator:
* Negotiate and book cargo with shipping lines
* Manage documentation, including bills of lading, packing lists, commercial invoices, certificates of origin, and licenses
* Handle customs clearances
* Oversee the collection and delivery process, ensuring shipments reach their final destination
* Collaborate with a small team, covering all areas of the forwarding process
* Book freight movements across different transport modes
* Respond to customer inquiries and provide quotes
