Role Overview
We are currently looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join a well established life sciences organisation based in the Edinburgh area.
As the Maintenance Engineer you will join a small team of in-house engineers and carry out both planned and reactive maintenance in an efficient and timely manner in a number of buildings including offices, laboratories and other research facilities. You will also be required to carry out any maintenance and repairs to plant and equipment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Your duties as the Maintenance Engineer will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
1. Carrying out pre-planned maintenance at various intervals on Steam Boiler Plant & services, Heating & Ventilation services, Compressed Air systems, Water systems and Building Services.
2. Carrying out repairs to the above systems in a safe and timely manner to allow work to continue as soon as possible.
3. Keeping records of work done and time taken to create an accurate history of plant/equipment.
4. Acting as ‘First Responder’ when pieces of scientific equipment go faulty.
5. Liaise with the ‘user’ to ensure that the work is properly scheduled and is safe to work on.
6. Generating Risk Assessments and SOPs when required.
7. Participating in ‘On Call’ rota with the other engineers to provide 24/7 cover to the entire park. On call fee paid plus overtime for call outs.
Role Requirements
To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Maintenance Engineer we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
1. SVQ or City Guilds in engineering discipline.
2. Working within a maintenance environment for at least 2 years. Maintenance and repairs on heating and ventilation systems. Experience in PPM maintenance as well as dealing with emergencies, unplanned problems and repairs.
3. The post is Monday to Friday, and you will be required to participate in an on-call rota with the other engineers to provide cover to the park 24/7 for which you will receive an additional on-call allowance.
