Role Outline
We are a dynamic and growing manufacturing company specializing in advanced interactive humanoid robotics, with a team of 50 dedicated employees. We are committed to ensuring a safe and compliant workplace while fostering continuous improvement in our processes. We are looking for a knowledgeable and proactive Health, Safety and Facilities Manager to join our team to maintain and further enhance our safety culture and keep our facilities in tip-top condition.
The Health, Safety and Facilities Manager will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving health and safety standards within our company, as well as managing building maintenance, upgrades, security and fire systems. You will ensure that all regulatory requirements are met and that a safe working environment is maintained for all employees, contractors, visitors and robots.
Responsibilities
* Develop and implement safety policies: Ensure compliance with UK health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
* Regulatory compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, such as COSHH, RIDDOR, DSEAR and PUWER.
* Reporting and documentation: Maintain accurate health and safety records, including risk assessments, audits, accident reports, and employee training logs.
* Risk assessments and audits: Conduct regular risk assessments, site inspections, and safety audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
* Insurance requirements: Effectively liaising with insurers to seek requirements, understand coverage and exclusions and report incidents.
* Training and education: Organise safety training, inductions, and ongoing education for employees, including specific instruction on equipment use, fire safety, health and safety compliance and emergency procedures.
* Emergency planning: Create and maintain emergency response plans, and lead evacuation drills.
* Incident investigation: Lead investigations of accidents and near-misses, ensuring accurate reporting and documentation, and implementing preventive measures.
* Collaboration: Work closely with department managers, including operations, production, and quality control, to ensure that safety is integrated into all aspects of the business.
* Continuous improvement: Recommend improvements to health and safety systems and processes, ensuring that the company is proactive in maintaining a safe working environment.
* Facilities management: Regular checks of essential systems such as fire, HVAC, security systems and lighting
* Identification and remedy of potential or new issues with regular or emergency maintenance or upgrades
* Liaising with and organising contractor visits and ensuring contractor compliance and performance
* Managing facilities hygiene and cleanliness
Qualifications, Knowledge, Key Skills and Experience
Essential
* NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety.
* Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
* Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
* Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to engage employees at all levels.
* Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.
* Experience in accident investigation and root cause analysis.
Desirable
* Experience with lean manufacturing environments.
* Familiarity with health and safety management in robotics or high-tech manufacturing.
