GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Process Engineer 1 supports the development of new and existing processes for the vapor deposition polymerization of parylene. This position is responsible for investigating and implementing new technologies as well as variations of existing processes in order to meet the expectations of marketing and sales and other goals of the business. This position is also responsible for the investigation and resolution of process anomalies, providing direct interface with key account customers, and providing input on ways to enhance/improve existing processes and procedures in conjunction with manufacturing and quality initiatives. In addition, this Engineer will evaluate and provide working solutions to new and existing customer coating applications as well as generate costing and process documentation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Evaluates new materials, improves yield and makes other cost reductions.
2. Performs a variety of complex process and applications engineering duties related to parylene coatings and applications.
3. Conducts experiments to improve current state-of-the-art processes.
4. Maintains proper technical documentation of work.
5. Develops and maintains efficient processes and specifications.
6. Provides advanced technical support in solving problems related to processes and product introduction.
7. Recommends and/or develops process revisions, new processes and appropriate applications to process improvement.
8. Coordinates with manufacturing and equipment engineering to implement new and improved processes and equipment enhancements or new designs.
9. Works toward cost containment and improved yield on a continual basis.
10. Supports customer needs in coordination with the Sales Department.
EDUCATION:
Degree in Engineering, or other related area with 1+ years of experience in an engineering capacity in a manufacturing or laboratory setting. Working knowledge of organic coating processes and/or Parylene coating experience helpful. Polymer chemistry background is preferred.

10. Ability to use precision measuring and laboratory instruments, such as U/V vis spectrophotometer, calipers, scales, micrometers, and other test/inspection equipment.
11. Has proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and Word software.
12. Demonstrated analytical and technical ability within field of expertise.
