The Producer will be responsible for producing all aspects of our in-house productions, co-productions and workshops. They will support education projects and productions with the education and outreach department. They will support the programming of additional events and productions including comedy, music, films and one off events and tours. They will be the main point of liaison for internal and external
colleagues.
Planning
* To provide day to day management of the producing function – supporting the Artistic Director and Executive Director in ensuring that all work at the theatre is produced and presented with high quality production values, and in the best possible circumstances.
* To manage relationships with co-producers.
* To work with the Executive Director on negotiations of contracts with companies, venues, creative appointments, writers commissions (where appropriate) and the engagement of actors.
* To work with the Exec Team, General Manager and other Heads of Departments in the formulation of annual and long-term project planning.
* To liaise with the Artistic Director, visiting directors and casting agents on the management of casting for productions; carrying out all availability checks, arranging meetings and putting in offers.
* To draw up rehearsal, production and performance schedules for all productions and projects with the General Manager, Production Manager and Senior Technician.
* To create budgets for individual productions and across each season.
Productions
* To anticipate and manage artistic needs within the constraints of schedules and budgets.
* To support the Artistic Director in identifying appropriate members of creative teams.
* To contract all freelance production staff with the General Manager and Senior Technician.
* To support the General Manager and Senior Technician to ensure that the theatre programme has the relevant technical support.
* To attend all production meetings.
* With the General Manager, monitor and authorise all production related expenditure, ensuring overspending does not occur and parameters are adhered to.
* To attend previews, including tech notes sessions, preview meetings and press nights.
* To lead producing meetings.
* To seek out, liaise with and negotiate with visiting companies.
* With the Head of Finance, draw up all settlements for royalties and co-production/visiting companies.
Programming
* To attend artistic planning meetings, bringing viable and suitable projects for discussion.
* To lead and build relationships with promoters and companies.
* To manage all incoming tour enquiries.
