Diverse Abilities offers you the opportunity to achieve this and is now recruiting for a Short Breaks Supervisor to join our team working across Dorset including Christchurch, Bournemouth and Poole.
This role involves supporting complex children and young people with additional emotional needs and disabilities and their siblings in their play at a variety of activities across the BCP area.
The Short Breaks Supervisor will ensure positive outcomes and the continual safety, health, and wellbeing of the children and young people using Children’s Services.

This Role Requires Staff To:
1. Deliver Short Breaks to children and young people who are disabled, helping fulfill their social needs through play/activities on a 1:1 basis.
2. Maintain records of all sessions and provide them to the Short Breaks Co-ordinator.
3. Supervise staff during the sessions.
4. Play an active role as part of the staff team and act as a role model for younger staff.
5. Act as a mentor for new staff.
6. Report back to parents about the child/young person’s experience of the activity, including any incident/accident.
7. Discuss and report any incident/accident about the children or young people with the Short Breaks Co-ordinator.
8. Administer medication where appropriate.
9. Support staff with the personal care of the children they are assisting, including the moving and assisting of children using hoists.
10. Be prepared to gain a Level 3 – First Aid at Work qualification.
11. Adhere to the highest standards of safeguarding procedures by reporting concerns or marks to senior staff and by being aware of the organisation’s policies and procedures and attending appropriate training courses.
12. Implement and work to all policies and procedures, which are available to read at the CHAOS Families Centre office.
13. Attend and participate in all staff meetings, training, and development as identified necessary for the role and to develop one’s own skills and abilities.
