We are looking for our Senior Legal Counsel, reporting to our European Finance Director, who is based in our Paris Office. Your scope is UK, Germany and Turkey. You will be part of the European Legal team. You will liaise with the Head of Legal and Corporate Legal team based in New-Zealand. This position will be based in the UK, in Maidenhead.
What you will be doing
The primary responsibilities are:
* Collaborate with business/sales/operations managers at all levels, both locally, to align legal strategies with business objectives.
* Provide legal guidance on regulatory matters to our offices in the UK, Germany and Turkey.
* Review, draft, and negotiate commercial contracts and agreements.
* Assess and weigh multiple factors when advising on decisions or courses of action.
* Engage, brief and monitor external legal providers to ensure provision of timely, valid and appropriate specialist legal support.
* Monitor corporate governance and company secretarial compliance requirements for F&P legal entities in Europe and assist as needed to meet compliance requirements.
* Educate and provide ongoing training to internal customers on F&P policies & procedures, legal risk and compliance issues and legislative changes that affect F&P to ensure the business is adequately prepared to meet internal and external compliance requirements.
* Ensure compliance with corporate policies and contracting procedures.
* Review, draft and approve changes and developments to internal F&P policies and procedures to effectively manage legal risk.
* Participate in the management of legal claims against F&P to ensure effective investigation, litigation and settlement outcomes.
* Work closely with the wider F&P legal team across the global business to share knowledge and ensure legal advice is sought by the business to minimise risk.
* Additional duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Fully qualified with excellent academic credentials (qualified in the UK or another EU country) and with at least 5-10 years proven experience as a senior legal counsel, ideally in the healthcare industry.
* Strong commercial orientation and outstanding interpersonal skills.
* Collaborative team player experienced at working with cross-functional teams across multiple jurisdictions and with flexibility to align with colleagues in different time zones.
* Excellent English professional language skills, strong communication skills and ability to explain complex legal concepts and requirements to various stakeholders.
* Strong analytical and organizational skills with a high level of professionalism and discretion.
* Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, to handle multiple assignments simultaneously and to take ownership of projects and tasks.
* Knowledge of data protection regulations, including GDPR – an advantage.
