Full time, 42 hours a week. Working 12 hour waking night shifts between 8pm and 8am, on a four on, four off rota.
Hampshire Social Inclusion Hart and Rushmoor provides accommodation and 24/7 support for up to 20 clients with complex and high-level support needs.
Our aim is to provide person-centred support to our clients, empowering them to gain the life skills they require to move on to more independent living. We also work with a range of agencies to maximise the support and opportunities for clients.
Although this can be a challenging role, it’s also very rewarding. This is an exciting role, where no two days will be the same, you will take part in various tasks, such as running client activities and life skills projects. You will be working as part of the night team to provide support to our homeless clients. You will love helping others by being on hand when they need you. Your primary role will be to keep our service and the people that use it, safe.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Be the first welcoming friendly face for people coming into the service
2. Provide informal support to clients and be a listening ear
3. Respond to incoming calls
4. Manage clients and their visitors within the building and any associated safety issues. Deal with any incidents that may arise and contact external services when necessary
5. Monitor the service and surrounding areas that are covered by CCTV
6. Carry out regular visual checks / fire checks on the interior and exterior of the buildings and car park, noting defects during the handover or via the communications book
7. Perform any other checks or tasks as directed by staff, referring issues to relevant person
8. You will be extremely conscientious in areas such as safeguarding and lone working and follow the relevant procedures
9. Maintain clean and tidy communal areas
10. Provide detailed handovers to day staff, regarding client safety and support information
11. Work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations and policy and procedure
12. Attend supervision, appraisal and training as required to carry out the role
13. Provide basic First Aid assistance until help arrives – Full training provided
14. Triage out of hours issues which may arise in services covered within the Core Homeless Contract and contact the on-call manager where applicable
15. Support your colleagues managing the night service, where required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING
Previous experience in this sector is not essential but you will be able to demonstrate a real passion for wanting to work with vulnerable people in the homeless sector. Our values will be aligned to your own ethics and ideals and you will be committed to changing the life of others for the better.
