As General Manager of Corebridge Bermuda, you will be accountable for ensuring Corebridge Bermuda’s strategic and financial goals are achieved in Bermuda. You will be responsible to ensure that affiliated reinsurance transactions align with risk appetite for the company and offer appropriate economic results. As a senior leader within the company, you will also be the primary interface with regulators and other local stakeholders while also being the primary liaison with Corebridge Bermuda’s leadership team.
You will oversee a local team as well as third party service providers covering aspects of Finance, Legal, Compliance, Regulatory and Enterprise Risk Management in Bermuda. In addition, you will collaborate closely with the Reinsurance team at Corebridge Bermuda to drive results through reinsurance transactions.
1. Provide direction and leadership toward the achievement of Corebridge Bermuda’s strategy and objectives, directly or through the functional teams:
2. Evaluate any affiliated reinsurance transaction to ensure alignment with risk appetite.
3. Ensure terms of agreement provide appropriate economic return to Corebridge Bermuda.
4. Manage the balance sheet in Bermuda.
5. Manage the capital and ALM position of Corebridge Bermuda effectively.
6. Align with US business unit leaders on results for both existing and new reinsurance business at Corebridge Bermuda
7. Ensure effective execution of the strategic goals and objectives of all Corebridge companies with operations in Bermuda.
8. Serve in the capacity of President/Director/CEO of selected Corebridge Bermuda companies or other affiliated legal entities as and when necessary.
9. Ensure all legal entities maintain proper corporate governance frameworks and comply with the Bermuda Monetary Authority’s Codes of Conduct, where applicable.
10. Monitor and ensure the policy frameworks of the company are observed and practiced.
11. Represent the local entities in external legislative sessions, Bermuda government and ministerial and US Consul General matters.
12. Build out local team in Bermuda to maintain ‘fit for purpose’ operations in proportion to the growing scale and complexity of Corebridge’s BermudaCorebridge Bermuda’s operations:
13. Provide leadership (matrix or direct) to the local staff and leverage third party providers to ensure effective staff and business management for all local operations.
14. Work with the Finance team to monitor company financials and ensure appropriate controls are in place.
15. Ensure Risk and Compliance requirements are met in line with local laws and regulations as well as Corebridge Bermuda’s policies.
Ideally, you will have strong insurance leadership experience in Reinsurance or in Bermuda. You should have the executive gravitas to liaise with the local government and regulators and be capable of being the face of Corebridge Bermuda within Bermuda. Your specific qualifications and experience should include:
16. Business acumen with a proven track record of making sound judgments backed by strong analytical skills.
17. Background or experience in Life and Annuities Reinsurance.
18. Strategic skills and the ability to establish and execute against a vision for the company's activities in Bermuda.
19. An understanding of financial models and outputs, strategic financial planning, and statutory financials with an ability to partner with the finance and risk teams to ensure effective reporting and forecasting.
20. Proven ability to lead professionals, ideally in a matrixed environment.
21. Influencing skills and the ability to collaborate locally as well as across a global organization.
22. Reputation for integrity and high ethical standards.
23. Familiarity with the business and regulatory environment in Bermuda.
24. Extensive insurance knowledge and strong understanding of Bermuda market dynamics.
