At Highland Spring, we are dedicated to producing the highest quality products while continuously striving for efficiency and sustainability. As we expand our operations, we are seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer on an initial 6 month contract who will lead initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency, capacity, and quality, driving us toward a zero-defect culture.
What you will do:
* Lead Improvement Projects: Lead continuous improvement projects focused on enhancing manufacturing efficiency, capacity, and product quality using the Six Sigma RDMAIC approach.
* KPI Improvement: Focus on improving the Right First Time and OEE KPIs and work toward a zero-defect culture by defining and enhancing process capabilities.
* Lean Manufacturing: Champion the HSG 6 Pillars Lean Manufacturing system and work with the operations team to implement lean manufacturing techniques, identifying and eliminating waste throughout the production system.
* Efficiency Optimization: Analyse and plan workflow, space requirements, equipment layout, and logistics to enhance efficiency. Determine optimal process settings, create SOPs and technical standards and train those the operations teams with them.
* Systems Integration: Devise efficient systems that integrate workers, machines, materials, information, and energy for optimal production.
* Stakeholder Collaboration: Build and maintain strong relationships across production, engineering and technical (quality) teams, ensuring clear communication and feedback.
* New Technologies: Help plan and implement new equipment and technologies to boost operational efficiency.
* Innovation: Continuously seek new and innovative ideas to drive operational excellence across the organisation.
* Participation: Work alongside production line managers to determine training needs and support skills assessments with objective analysis.
What we are looking for:
* Proven Experience: Demonstrable experience in process, industrial, or continuous improvement engineering.
* LEAN Expertise: Strong knowledge of LEAN principles and other manufacturing theories.
* Problem-Solving: Experience using Root Cause Analysis, RDMAIC, or similar techniques to resolve issues.
* Self-motivation: Proactive and self-driven, able to prioritise tasks and balance short-term challenges with long-term projects.
* Project Management: Solid project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage resources effectively.
* Technical Knowledge: Excellent understanding of engineering principles, coupled with a hands-on, practical approach.
* Communication: Strong communication skills and the ability to develop and train others on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and best practices.
* Team Player: Ability to work independently or as part of a team, unsupervised when necessary.
* Health & Safety: Knowledge of Health and Safety law and best practices.
* Training Expertise: Familiarity with best practice training methods (such as TWI) and experience in writing and delivering training materials.
* Stakeholder Management: Experience in managing stakeholder relationships to ensure smooth operations and alignment.
