Bute Island Foods Ltd is hiring a Technical Manager! As a member of the site Senior Leadership Team, to lead our Quality and Hygiene teams in Rothesay, and to support the NPD and Commercial teams in progressing the plant-based business.
You’ll make contributions that matter by…
1. Assuming the role of site expert for food safety, quality, integrity and legality and the Technical Lead within the Site Leadership Team (SLT).
2. Ensuring good hygiene, housekeeping and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards across the site.
3. Managing, supporting and developing the QA team ensuring effective training, knowledge and skills are in place to deliver products to specification on a daily basis. Continuing to develop a Quality Culture throughout the site by supporting the Production and Packing Managers to continuously improve quality standards.
4. Continuing to develop the technical strategy to demonstrate continuous improvement and added value.
5. Monitoring the environmental hygiene performance and guiding the Hygiene Team on maintaining standards to AA+BRC and retailer audit requirements.
6. Delivering and reporting of key performance indicators (KPI) for food safety, quality, legal and integrity. Advising site management of trends and, where appropriate, advising on corrective action, improvements and permanent solutions.
7. Conducting Food Safety risk assessments and implementing appropriate controls for preventing product contamination.
You’re best suited to the role if you are...
8. Able to demonstrate experience in a technical/quality related management role within the food industry, ideally with experience of chilled, Free from and Vegan manufacturing requirements.
9. Qualified to Level 4 HACCP and/or Food Hygiene Certificate Level 4.
10. Experienced in dealing with the major retailers in relation to audits etc.
11. Able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of Quality Management Systems, GMP and legislative compliance standards.
12. Equally comfortable in communicating at Board level when presenting large scale complex details, and at individual level when coaching, developing and giving feedback to team members.
