Job Description
We are working with a well-respected full service Law Firm in Brighton. They are in need of a new Risk & Compliance Manager to join their dynamic team. This role will oversee the development and implementation of risk management policies and procedures. You will also provide general risk and compliance advice to those across the firm.
A successful candidate will have demonstrable commercial awareness, prior experience in a comparable role within a law firm, and ideally an excellent understanding of professional indemnity insurance and the SRA Code of Conduct Rules.
Some key responsibilities:
* Handle potential and actual claims against the firm
* Act as a point of contact for professional indemnity insurers, actioning investigations when necessary, alongside fee earners, wherein you will provide advice/guidance on issues of professional conduct
* Monitor firm-wide compliance with the SRA’s Code of Conduct
* Deal with complaints made against the firm
* Oversee the development and training of various compliance professionals
* Carry out audits
* Coordinate Lexcel accreditation assessment(s) and application
* Develop risk management policies and procedures
* Collaborate with other senior personnel to ensure official documentation is updated in line with changing regulatory/legislative requirements
* Liaise with department heads to improve various compliance policies
* Assist in dealing with escalated complaints
* Aid in due diligence work and other risk management issues relative to potential mergers/acquisitions
