Assistant Buyer
(Manufacturing)
Location: Northampton - NN4
Salary: £30-35,000
Type: Permanent, office-based
Hours: Monday to Friday 08.00-16.30
Do you have purchasing experience within manufacturing or logistics but keen to develop your skills? Would you like to be pivotal in developing processes and managing your own purchasing projects? If this sounds like you, we'd like to hear from you ASAP.
This role is hands-on as well as strategic and extremely fast-paced, working alongside your manager to develop and improve processes. You will be attending daily meetings and working closely with production to ensure demand is met and inventory is managed accurately.
Key Responsibilities for the Assistant Buyer include:
1. Managing forecasts and devising the purchasing plan
2. Negotiate & implement supply contracts
3. Liaising with UK and non-UK suppliers
4. Placing orders with suppliers
5. Raising purchase order requisitions
6. Expediting orders with suppliers
7. Create vendors and items in the ERP system
8. Stock management
9. Preparation of supplier KPI reporting
Skills and Experience required from the Assistant Buyer include:
1. Purchasing experience within manufacturing/logistics
2. Competent user of Excel (V Look up, Pivot Tables)
3. Knowledge of using an ERP system is preferred (SAP)
4. Strong organisational skills
5. Hunger to learn and develop your skills within a growing business
