Labourer (Housing Repairs)

About the role:
Help improve and maintain the quality of the housing stock by working proactively in partnership with the ‘Area Housing Quality Team’ and by directly providing a localized and rapid response to repairs and matters of concern. Assist Trade Operatives in day-to-day maintenance in tenanted properties and void properties, to prepare empty properties to a lettable standard in a timely and efficient manner.
About you:
1. Ability to work effectively and diligently without daily supervision.
2. Proven ability of being a practical and well organised person.
3. Experience of working as part of a team.
4. Experience of working with different groups of people
5. Experience of undertaking small scale repair works, including decorating and garden maintenance
6. Be able to use and look after a variety of hand and power tools.
What you will do:
Make sure that council accommodation properties are ready for occupancy, including but not restricted to the following duties:
7. Clean and tidy properties, including garden areas, between occupancies.
8. Undertake minor repairs and decorating between occupancies.
9. Assist Operatives of varying trades to undertake additional repairs.
10. Assisting on jobs that require 2 persons for health and safety reasons.
11. Be prepared to upskill where necessary
Carry out all work normally accepted within the building industry as that of a Labourer to Council housing and related assets. This can also include varied and complex situations including being asked to attend an emergency and having to leave the current working area safe until your return.
Carry out basic tasks normally associated with other trades that would reasonably be expected of any competent person engaged in building maintenance operations. This will include physical demands of working in inclement weather depending on the time of year.
