Job summary
Douglas Grove is currently looking to recruit a receptionist to join our team. This is a part-time role and the working shift pattern will be:-
Mondays - 7am to
Wednesdays - to
Fridays - to
In this essential front-line role at the practice, receptionists help patients to access the right services, assist with keeping health records accurate and up-to-date, and ensure that appointment bookings are well-managed.
Main duties of the job
1. Greeting and directing all patients.
2. Making appointments and giving out appointment cards, where required.
3. Accepting, issuing and handing out prescriptions, letters, completed forms, specimen bottles, etc.
4. Dealing with requests for information, and managing problems and complaints.
5. Advising patients of practice procedures.
6. Registering new patients.
7. Answering the telephone, promptly.
About us
We are a small teaching practice of circa 7,000 patients and form part of the Aegros PCN. We have 2 GPs, 1 trainee, plus 5 nursing staff, with a small admin team in support. Benefits include the NHS Pension Scheme and 25 days annual leave (pro rata for part-time).

Essential
8. Excellent communication skills, with a clear and polite telephone manner.
9. Ability to work in a polite, confidential and discreet manner, respecting patients at all times.
10. Experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations.
11. Confidence to work as part of a team and ability to "think on your feet".
12. Strong IT and administration skills.
13. Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.
