Provide clerical support to the Emergency Services Department to include answering phones, transcribing physicians’ orders, booking diagnostic studies, distributing lab and x-ray reports to appropriate nursing personnel, filing patient charts and other related duties.
Responsibilities
Answer phones properly at all times, direct calls appropriately and make calls for Emergency Department Physicians and nurses.
Review patient charts for appropriate signatures and completeness of notes. Attach reports, break down the chart for required distribution and filing.
Transcribe physicians’ orders, contact consultants and book diagnostic studies.
Prepare monthly and daily call rosters.
Discharge the patient through the computer.
Notify Testing and Admitting Center of admissions and maintain logs of admissions, incoming rescues, and physician contacts.
Properly distribute incoming lab and x-ray reports for Emergency Room patients.
Review all reports from Diagnostic Imaging for positive findings and have them reviewed by Charge Nurse. Give appropriate reports to Express and send reports on admitted patients to the units.
Assist with ordering of supplies used by the Emergency Dept.
Compile data/statistics used by KCMH regarding Emergency Department activities.
Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications and Specifications
A High School diploma and a minimum of six months job-related experience or equivalent is required.
