Job Title: Investment Accountant
Location: Warwick (Hybrid working, 2 days per week in the office)
Rate: £400-450 per day inside IR35 via Umbrella
Contract Type: 6 months
About the Client: Our client is a prominent organisation at the heart of energy in the UK, committed to delivering safe and secure energy to homes, communities, and businesses. They are dedicated to continuously evolving and improving the energy network to ensure safe operations and reliable quality of supply. As part of their Cyber Security programme team, they are looking for an Investment Accountant to lead and deliver business change activities, support the implementation of new controls and processes, and ensure successful handover into the business.
Job Purpose: The Investment Accountant will work within the Cyber Security programme team, responsible for leading and delivering business change activities. This role involves supporting the implementation of new controls and processes and ensuring successful handover into the business.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Collaborate with Project Management Teams to ensure accurate project spend and forecasts, considering risk profiles and updating monthly reports.
2. Provide performance reviews, trend analysis, and critical evaluation to drive improved project performance.
3. Act as a trusted partner for the business, providing financial expertise and project knowledge to support the wider business.
4. Assist the Senior Project Manager in understanding their portfolio, highlighting deviations and areas of focus.
5. Ensure accuracy of actual costs, challenge project teams when necessary, and maintain an effective control framework.
6. Lead stewardship of key Master data, ensuring continuous review and maintenance in collaboration with project teams and businesses.
7. Contribute to crucial audits by providing clear supporting information and evidence of balances.
8. Drive the close-out processes and forecasting of capitalisation to prevent backlogs and ensure accurate asset and depreciation positions.
9. Proactively seek opportunities for continuous improvement at both individual and process levels, suggesting ideas for consideration and leading their implementation if accepted.
10. Support the implementation of new controls and processes within the Cyber Security programme.
11. Ensure successful handover of new processes into the business.
Skills and Experience:
1. Qualified accountant or part-qualified with relevant professional experience.
2. Significant experience in reporting financial information, particularly to non-finance staff.
3. Demonstrated commercial acumen and the ability to build relationships at all levels.
4. Proficiency in influencing and working as part of a virtual team.
5. Proven experience in planning, forecasting, and budgeting across various projects.
6. Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
7. Experience in supporting commercial decisions with financial information.
8. Knowledge of SAP and MS Office would be advantageous.
9. Willingness to travel to sites on an ad-hoc basis.
10. Experience in the Utilities industry is a plus.
11. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
12. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to address barriers to programme success.
