About the role:
The role involves day to day environmental delivery across the Manchester estate. You will be responsible for both planned and reactive environmental delivery taking into consideration internal and external stakeholders, costs and resources. You will be responsible for the preparation and management of associated budgets.
Typical duties will include:
• Delivering work in a safe, effective and efficiently manner ensuring passenger perception is not impacted and passenger flow is not disrupted.
• Lead on all aspects of environmental delivery. This typically includes delivering against MAG’s environmental policies, strategies, systems standards and accreditations.
• Develop, prioritise, plan and deliver a wide ranging programme of environmental works across the airports estate.
• Ensuring MAG remain legally compliant and deliver best practice relating to environment, conservation, biodiversity, ecology, habitat management and section 106 requirements.
• Budgetary management.
• Assisting with waste management/promotion of recycling and assisting with pollution control (including fly-tipping).
• Management, monitoring and control of invasive species.
• Management of the ‘green estate’ and external areas including waterways, ponds, footpaths, stiles, fences, gates, boundaries, bat barns and woodlands.
• Arrange environmental surveys and environmental monitoring.
• Analyse and assess environmental data and contribute to MAG’s Corporate Responsibility Report.
• Liaise with relevant public bodies and key stakeholders relating to environment matters and associated delivery plans.
• Raise awareness within the business of any emerging legislation.
• Write environmental reports, deliver environmental presentations and provide environmental awareness training as required.
• Ensure reactive work orders are accurately managed and updated through the airport’s asset management system (Maximo).
• Act as a general subject matter expert for environmental delivery.
• Maintain a ‘can do’ culture and flexible approach to ensure great service delivery.
• Undertake any other duties necessary to support the Facilities Management team and associated functions.
What will make you successful:
You will be a well-rounded, flexible and experienced manager with experience of planning and delivering environmental work with a commensurate qualification/professional membership in an environmental discipline or project management. You will be self-motivated, commercially astute and have a sound understanding of UK Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.
You will need to be a strong leader and be able to lead teams to deliver a first-class service to internal and external stakeholders. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential as will influencing at all levels. In addition to this you will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to manage a budget
