An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Band 5 Assistant Psychologist to join the newly formed Paediatric Neurology Psychology Service based at University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. The post is permanent 0.46 WTE.
The successful applicant will join a supportive multidisciplinary team and make a significant contribution to the development of this newly established psychology service, which provides support to families of children and young people with a neurological condition.
The Paediatric Neurology Psychology Service is part of the wider Child Health Psychology Service in Cardiff and Vale UHB. Clinical supervision, joint working, CPD, training, and peer support are integral to the service. The department enjoys a good relationship with the wider psychology community and South Wales Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology. The applicant will be a highly valued member of the department where collegial working is encouraged, and a culture of open dialogue about improving inclusion and diversity for both service users and staff is welcomed and celebrated. There is potential for additional hours within the wider psychology department.
The post will suit someone who has experience or is looking for experience with children, young people, and families in a medical/neuropsychological setting. Those with other relevant experiences are strongly encouraged to apply.
The post holder will be involved in supporting psychological/neuropsychological assessment and interventions, co-facilitating groups, and attending multidisciplinary team meetings. The post holder will assist with audit, literature reviews, developing resources, service evaluations, teaching/training, and undertaking administrative tasks.
The work will involve inpatient and outpatient work. All work will be supervised by the joint lead Dr. Zoe Moss, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, and Dr. Kathryn Bond, Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
