An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the catering team at St Richards hospital.
The purpose of this role is to support the ward service manager and duty team leader while ensuring an excellent catering service is provided to patients.

Main duties of the job
To ensure that the Ward Service teams carry out their duties following departmental and Trust policies under guidance from the Ward Service Manager. To communicate with all users of the services on a regular basis to ensure the service specifications are being delivered to agreed standards.
Duties to include (but not limited to) roster management, mandatory training and appraisals, food safety audits, patient surveys, leasing with specialities such as speech and language/ dietetics department and patients.
Successful candidates should have customer service experience and excellent communication skills.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To supervise the food and beverage service at ward level, ensuring all food hygiene, HACCP and Health and Safety legislation is adhered to. To ensure cleaning is maintained in ward pantry and associated areas in line with Trust cleaning regulations.
The post holder will work as part of a team of catering staff responsible for the effective day to day delivery of food & beverage services across multi sites. The services provide in excess of 20,000 meals per week to almost 1000 hospital beds and various departments within the Trust.
The post holder is required to be on their feet for the majority of their shift, visiting wards to support, monitoring catering service staff.

Evidence
Essential criteria
1. NVQ 3 in a management, catering or hospitality or equivalent qualification or experience
2. Knowledge of special dietary requirements acquired through training and experience to diploma equivalent level
3. L2 food safety award.
4. Ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision and to problem solve.
5. Standard keyboard skills Have effective organisational skills and ability to manage time and prioritise work.
6. Ability to supervise / manage junior catering staff in a busy catering environment.
Desirable criteria
7. Relevant work experience in a professional cook freeze kitchen environment
8. Experience in managing a team.
9. Customer service experience

10. Evidence of having championed diversity in previous roles (as appropriate to role).
11. Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equalities issues
