The Company:
Our client is a well-established developer and manufacturer innovative plastic pipeline solutions for the gas industry. These solutions are now commonly used in the water, wastewater, energy & power, district heating and telecoms sectors. They aim to be the supplier of choice for sustainable pipeline systems and value-added services.
To support their vision, the company is recruiting for a Strategic Markets Director to drive market share and revenue growth through focused market insight, product management, sales enablement, marketing communications, brand management and strategic planning.
Primary focus:
Reporting to the Commercial Director, the Strategic Markets Director will take ownership of the voice of the customer process across the organisation as well leading the development of the 5-year product roadmap to meet current and future customer and sector needs (in conjunction with the Technical Director). In addition, the role will lead on the strategic market planning process, that on an annual basis will drive the focus and agenda for the budget process.
Key responsibilities:
* Providing inspirational leadership to a direct team of 5 market & product management/marketing professionals along with the commercial analysis and pricing team of 4.
* Leading the development of the ongoing strategic planning process by facilitating the process, seeking input, collating insights and aligning internal stakeholders across business units and functions.
* Developing and leading ongoing voice of the customer processes, with a clear edict in driving informative and timely working group sessions with our customer base.
* Continually evaluates and improves the product and service proposition for customers by listening directly to customers, reviewing data trends and understanding the changing dynamics of the industry.
* Developing and maintaining knowledge of the market, direct and emerging competitors, technology trends, and emerging applications. Identify and prioritise market opportunities for the organisation working closely with the Technical Director to support new product development.
* Responsible for idea generation that contribute and adds new products and services to the overall product road map, by working with key external stakeholders.
* Overseeing product strategy and portfolio roadmap development including all digital transformation initiatives to have a competitive offering in the marketplace.
* Developing the role of data analysis in support of strategic decision making.
* Cultivating a collaborative partnership across adjacent departments, e.g. sales, technical particularly in respect of strategic and commercial input into our innovation processes.
Person Profile:
* A flexible and creative professional style with a knack for building relationships, influencing and challenging the status quo.
* Customer focused mindset with the ability to take a high degree of intellectual rigour to analyse and synthesise a diverse range of market intelligence, customer feedback and data analysis to generate implementable strategies and financial outcomes.
* Must have well developed executive presence and the ability to lead and develop a team with a range of experience and skills.
Education / Relevant Experience
* Minimum of 10+ years relevant (extensive) commercial experience, with a minimum of 5 years marketing experience with industrial products.
* Demonstrated experience in engaging with the market to deliver successful strategic outcomes in product portfolio management across all stages of product lifecycle.
* Preferably had experience either directly or in-directly working within a product / category function.
* Clear evidence of developing team members to take on broader responsibilities and grow their careers.
* Bachelor’s Degree required likely to be in the fields of Marketing, Business or Engineering.
* MBA or other post-graduate/professional qualification preferred.
* Ability and willingness to travel up to 40% of the time.
