We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to provide 1:1 support for pupils with special educational needs in a mixed Reception and Year 1 class. Working closely with children with autism and other SEN needs, you will play a vital role in helping them access the curriculum and reach their potential. Starting as soon as possible, this part-time position offers an excellent opportunity to join a caring and professional educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 support for pupils with a variety of SEN needs, including autism, within the classroom.
Assist in modifying lessons and activities to suit individual learning styles and abilities.
Help establish and maintain consistent routines to support pupil engagement.
Implement behaviour management strategies as required to promote a positive learning environment.
Communicate effectively with teaching staff to ensure seamless support for the child’s needs.
Foster a nurturing and supportive relationship with the pupils to encourage their progress and confidence.
Essential Experience/Attributes:
Previous experience working with children that have special educational needs.
Experience supporting pupils with autism and other SEN needs in an educational setting.
A DBS check registered on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.
A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
Clear communication skills and the ability to work within a team.
The ability to remain calm in challenging situations and respond to the needs of the pupils.
Must be able to understand and follow the school's safeguarding procedures and behavioural policies.
Qualifications relating to education, special educational needs, counselling, or psychology are not essential but will be looked upon favourably.
