Job summary
The Regional WorkplaceHealth and Safety (WHS) Manager will be responsible for partneringwith a regional operations team in our Amazon Heavy & Bulky(AMXL) Network to execute company WHS policies and ensurecompliance to all applicable health and safety regulations. Byleveraging principles of modern day safety science such as humanperformance, this individual will lead continuous improvementinitiatives and influence operational leaders and support theirteams to ‘operationalise’ safety to reduce safety risk in ourprocesses, supporting the provision of a safe and healthy workingenvironment for our Associates.
Thesuccessful candidate must be able to build trust and inspireconfidence with their operations team. Influence change by beingable to clearly articulate how and why. Successfully support thebuilding of risk foresight into our operational practices and beable to analyse safety data.
They must be aneffective communicator and send clear, concise and consistentmessages, both verbally and in writing. They must support anddevelop senior operational leaders on WHS theory, practice,policies and assist the EU regional teams in embedding, simplifyingand innovating our WHS standards throughout their sites.
This role will be a single threaded leaderfocusing on compliance across AMXL EU Operations.
Key jobresponsibilities
• Possess a thoroughunderstanding of UK & EU Health and safety regulations andcompany policies.
• Provide guidance and oversight toassure compliance to all applicable Amazon WHSPolicies.
• Measure the regions and sites’ performanceagainst published requirements in WHS policies and identifyimprovement plans for the site to close all identifiedgaps.
• Ensure WHS record keeping and data integrity andprovides operations with accurate reporting (lead and lag) metricsto support business WHS initiatives.
• Deliver projectson time to a high standard with operations.
• AnalyseWHS metrics to identify trends to justify the allocation ofappropriate resources to areas where the safety risk ishighest.
• Analyse Global Safety Peer Review results anddevelop and implement solutions to eliminate exposure to theserisks and prevent injury at other FCs.
• Ensure siteleadership and Associates are trained and knowledgeable of theirresponsibilities under each policy. Audit the quality, delivery(including qualifications of the trainer), and effectiveness of allrequired WHS training.
• Ensure our WHS talent isdeveloped and their thinking is challenged to be constantly at thefront of professional practice.
• Review theeffectiveness of deployed WHS tools so they are simplified for useand are adding value.
• Partner with corporate and otherregional field WHS personnel to leverage global WHS best practicesinto EU/UK networkstandards.
BASICQUALIFICATIONS
· several years' of increasingresponsibilities in health and safety programs in manufacturing,production, or service operations.
· BSc in safety,ergonomics or a related field required
· Excellentwritten and verbal communication skills, including comfortinterfacing with Directors and VPs
· Ability to developand implement department goals and strategies based on broaderorganisation goals.
· Strong analytical skills withdemonstrated problem solving ability.
· Ability to travelup to 40%
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
·Health and Safety, Master’s degree or equivalentpreferred
· Chartered Member of IOSH preferred (orequivalent), working towards will be considered
·Experience in a fast-paced, changing/growingorganization
· Handle changing priorities, able to workwith ambiguity and use of good judgment in high paced environment.
· Interest in long-term career development throughassignments in multiple FCs across the nation andglobally
· Prior experience in a leadership developmenttraining program
· Track record of effectively leading anoperation comprising both salaried and hourly staff
·Develop others into higher levels of leadership in anorganization
