Equans is looking for a Payroll Manager to join our team in Newcastle Upon Tyne on a 12 month FTC basis. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, bonus and benefits package.
The role holder will be accountable for the delivery of effective Payroll and Benefit services by driving continuous improvement initiatives, through innovation and best practice to deliver quality, compliant procedures.
The role will be responsible for leading a team of 10, supporting the Equans UK Business Unit key stakeholders to deliver strategic and operational people initiatives that maximise the performance of the Business.
What will you deliver?
1. Support the delivery of the UK Business Unit strategy and vision
2. Responsible for the delivery of a great employee experience through Payroll services to agreed SLAs & KPIs relating Payroll legislation and internal policies.
3. Create a culture that promotes high levels of employee and customer engagement through inspiring leadership and customer focus.
4. Identify and drive team development to ensure future fit skills and team engagement.
5. Identify opportunities for process improvement liaising productively with SAP Service Delivery team to assess, prioritise and deliver ongoing system improvements driven by legislation and efficiency levers.
6. Responsibility to deliver Payroll agreed budget, whilst supporting cost reductions across the UK Shared Services overall budget.
7. Ensure adequate process controls and segregation of duties are in place, satisfying all Internal and External audit standards applicable to Equans
8. Authorise BACS payments to employees and third parties in line with agreed timetable.
9. Ensure all process documentation/operating procedures are up to date.
10. Provide expert guidance on payroll processes, legislation, and compliance requirements.
11. Coordinate all payroll and pension year end activities.
12. Handle escalations through to resolution.
13. Support contract mobilisations and demobilisations to ensure effective, accurate timely transition.

Who are we looking for?
25. Strong leadership skills

28. Understanding of current Payroll legislation.
29. Process improvement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma

31. Effective and agile approach to budget management
32. The ability to utilise data insights to identify and drive strategic goals.
33. Advanced knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint
34. Knowledge of SAP/ Success Factors
35. Experience within operational and strategic payroll service delivery
36. Lean experience at White Belt level as a minimum
37. Payroll implementation and systems development.
38. Budget management and activity-based costing
