As the Materials Controller you will be responsible for the placement and scheduling of purchase orders for a range of materials, including chemicals, facing, packaging and consumable items used in our manufacturing process at our 4 UK sites and to maintain the correct inventory levels of these materials.
Responsibilities of our Materials Controller
1. Review MRP and react to changes in raw material requirements to ensure continuity of supply and correct levels of inventory are maintained.
2. Identify raw material requirements, raise purchase orders in SAP and distribute to suppliers.
3. Ensure that PO data and pricing is correct, referring to price lists issued by the business.
4. Liaise with suppliers and hauliers on a daily basis, expedite purchase orders, ensuring required delivery times are met.
5. Liaise with Freight forwarders with regards to the arrival and custom clearance of imported raw materials from overseas.
6. Record and maintain shipping schedule to ensure full visibility of shipping status is available at all times. Schedule deliveries as required, keeping additional storage/demurrage costs to a minimum.
7. Create and maintain inbound delivery monitor in SAP to provide Logistics with full visibility of incoming goods and enable accurate receipting in of materials.
8. Liaise with internal departments, Planning, Finance, Production and Logistics and provide support and communication to aid the smooth running of the business.
9. Support the business in the event of supplier service/quality issues.
10. Review and resolve supplier invoices discrepancies.
11. Attend both internal and external supplier meetings if required.
