Job Description
Service Care Solutions is seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer to join our client's team in Grays, Essex.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated professional to contribute to a comprehensive Environmental Protection service.
This is a full time, temporary assignment offering £45 per hour Umbrella LTD (£35.75 per hour PAYE).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Work with colleagues to achieve service plan objectives and targets.
2. Participate in One-to-One Performance Development Reviews and identify team development needs.
3. Ensure full compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and local safety policies.
4. Provide Environmental Protection (EP) advice on Planning Applications and Licensing Consultations.
5. Investigate complaints related to statutory nuisance and public health interventions.
6. Install, collect, analyze, and feedback evidence using EP sound recording equipment.
7. Work outside normal office hours if required by the Public Protection Strategic Lead or Team Manager.
8. Maintain accurate written and electronic records using the Uniform IDOX document management system.
9. Compile reports, statements, and schedules for managers and legal proceedings.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
10. Good writing skills for reports, notices, statements, and professional correspondence.
11. Competence in analyzing complex, sensitive, and confidential information in compliance with legal standards.
12. Effective project management experience, particularly with environmental protection initiatives.
13. Experience with GIS mapping and Land Registry searches.
14. Knowledge of the law relating to statutory nuisances, Environmental Protection standards, Air Quality, and Contaminated Land regulations.
15. Specialized knowledge in acoustics (e.g., IOA diploma) and its role in EP intervention.
16. Experience investigating nuisance complaints and resolving public health issues.
Qualifications and Experience:
17. A working knowledge of the law relating to statutory nuisances.
18. Knowledge of Environmental Protection standards, Air Quality, and Contaminated Land regulations.
19. Specialist knowledge in acoustics and its application in Environmental Protection intervention.
20. Experience in resolving complaints related to statutory nuisances and public health concerns.
