In order to maintain these high standards, it is important that the college has the right staffing structure in place and that the right individuals are appointed, which has therefore led to this new vacancy for an IT Project Manager. This is a newly created role which is due to further IT development across the college and will allow someone the opportunity to shape their career working in this highly reputable organisation. The role will primarily be based at a campus in the Blackpool area, but will require travel to other local campuses and will also offer a hybrid working model.
Your new role
Reporting to the IT Director, the IT Project Manager will be responsible for the daily management of IT projects across the college, with an overall focus on ensuring that projects are delivered on time and in line with budgets. As IT Project Manager, you will be an integral part of the IT team, working closely with IT team leaders and the wider IT team, as well as staff in various departments across the college. To ensure the timely delivery of projects, this will require you toplete all project documentation from project inception topletion, ensuring you are reporting around any risks to the project and keeping all key stakeholders up to date on the progress of projects. On a daily basis, the role will therefore require you to build and harvest relationships with both internal and external parties, providing reports andmunication around all ongoing projects. As IT Project Manager, you willplete documentation related to progress updates, change requests, RAID logs and provide full business case documentation for senior stakeholders. Projects you will manage will vary, including software development projects, implementation of system projects, more technical projects and also building of interfaces, with around 10–20 projects running at any one time. In order to successfully fulfil this role, you will be working on project systems which will include MS Projects & JIRA, as well as using the appropriate project management techniques.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in securing this position, you must have significant project management experience, with experience managing IT projects being essential. A knowledge of project management methodologies and techniques will be essential, with a Prince2 or similar PM qualification being desirable. Should you have experience working in the education sector, this would also be beneficial. The successful candidate will have strongmunication skills with the ability to easily build relationships with key stakeholders and will have proven experience in managing and delivering projects on time and in line with budgets. You will have a proactive approach and be seeking a role where you can grow and develop.
