An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and experienced Team Manager to join the Children Safeguarding Unit at Oldham Council. This full-time role offers a competitive salary ranging from £48,474-£51,515
About the Role:
As a Team Manager within the Safeguarding Unit, you will lead a team of skilled practitioners, including Child Protection Chairs and Independent Reviewing Officers. Your leadership will ensure effective chairing of Child Protection conferences, identifying risks, and formulating comprehensive multi-agency action plans to safeguard and promote children's welfare. You will oversee Independent Reviewing Officers, ensuring that Cared for Reviews are conducted within statutory timescales, achieving timely and thorough care plans for each child.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and Manage: Oversee a team of Independent Reviewing Officers and Child Protection Chairs.
2. Child Protection Conferences: Ensure conferences meet high standards and adhere to government timescales and guidelines.
3. Cared for Children Reviews: Guarantee reviews comply with statutory guidance and permanency planning.
4. Corporate Parenting: Support IROs in addressing delays in care plans, ensuring the local authority acts as a responsible corporate parent.
5. Liaison with CAFCASS and Courts: Collaborate to ensure compliance with Court-agreed Care Plans when necessary.
6. Quality Assurance and Improvement: Identify areas of concern, challenge practices, conduct practice observations, and participate in regular audits.
7. Safeguarding Expertise: Develop expertise in specific safeguarding areas to inform policy, practice development, and training delivery.
