What is the job?
As a Sampling and Analysis Technician you will be sampling processed fuel and conducting tests according to company procedures, examining incoming loads for quality concerns, compiling a database of anticipated quality from each supplier, and utilising this information to identify quality discrepancies. Additionally, the role supports the Procurement and Operations departments in managing suppliers and materials on site.
Working Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
• Sampling of processed material over the contracts supplied by the Pollington site, and testing for particle size and moisture. Sending off additional samples for external testing
• Monitoring of inbound quality at Pollington
• Maintenance of database of supplier quality
• Sampling of inbound items for quality intelligence
• Supplier intelligence to allow correct truck area allocation on site for each supplier upon tipping to maximise picking process whilst minimising H&S risk
• Provide guidance to Operations in what can be accepted/rejected based on current fuel/plant issues
• Site visits, sampling and audit, of third party processed material
• Working closely with Procurement team to audit and maintain supply chain quality
• Sharing learning between SATs/IQT's between sites
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
• Maths and English to minimum GCSE standard
• IT qualification or familiarity with MS Office products
• Familiar with technical terminology
• A current clean U K driving License
• Material testing (specific training will be provided)
• Audit (internal) training/experience
• Providing detailed spreadsheet reports
• Working to and meeting deadlines
• Working in a fast-paced evolving business
• Safety minded at all times
• Equally comfortable dealing with site operatives up to senior manager level
• Have excellent self-organisational skills and ensure that documentation is completed to the required standard, minimising errors
Desirable
• First Aid Qualification
• Fire Marshall trained
• Statistical and/or chemical knowledge (GCSE/A level or equivalent)
• An ability to deal with a large workload and prioritise as necessary
• Previous working within the biomass or waste industry
