Our client is looking for a Medical Administrator / Booking Officer, where the main duties include working to Radiology protocols to attend patients on site and book patient appointments on the telephone or by letter using the Radiology information system CRIS. The required skills a good attention to detail, patient care, teamworking skills.
The ideal candidate would have some knowledge Radiology IT systems but not essential.

Pay Rates: £12.00 to £12.50 paye inclusive of holiday pay per hour depending on skill and experience.

Variable - weekend shifts may be available
There is a possibility of part time or a compressed working week ( minimum of 3 days ) but no home working
Hours:
Long days 7.30am-8pm. Potential 7.5 hour days in St Richards, Chichester site. If candidates can’t work long days, we would expect a minimum of 7.5 hours per day working shifts varying starting at 7.30am and finishing at 8pm.
Duties include:
1. Work closely with the Administration Team Leader, Consultants, Superintendents and Senior Medical Staff, Sonographers and Radiographers to contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiency of the team.
2. Work as part of the team with effective communication between all parties concerned.
3. Ability to deal with all queries effectively in a sensitive manner from both Trust staff and general public, some of which may be complex. Communication may be via email or telephone involving staff, patients or relatives, GPs and other healthcare professionals.
4. Communicate with patients in a sensitive, confidential and tactful manner; some of the issues can be of a complex and contentious nature.
5. Attend regular team briefs and huddles and ensure any duties are carried out as requested.
6. Cancel and rebook lists at short notice due to mechanical breakdown or unexpected last minute unavailability of staff. Make appropriate judgements on where to rebook the patients taking into account the urgency and availability.
7. Interpret referrals ensuring that the patient is appropriately prepped and booked onto the correct list. Analyse and judge the urgency of referrals and bring them to the attention of the various Superintendents/Consultants within the department and expedite accordingly.
8. Plan own work for the day to utilise all appointment spaces efficiently taking into account last minute availability and cancellations so that there are no wasted appointments.
9. Booking of patient appointments via the computerised radiology information system (CRIS) for all modalities.
