Job summary
We are looking for a reliable Textiles Project Assistant to support our service users at our textiles project, based at Beacon House.
You'll be working full time, 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday at our textiles project at Beacon House, creating an excellent learning experience for the people in our care. You will be working with vulnerable adults to complete meaningful textiles activities, following care plans for each individual and providing direct support and guidance to complete textiles based activities as independently as possible.
**Due to a genuine occupational need we are only able to accept applicants with a full, clean driving license, with at least two years of driving experience, for this role**
**Experience working with textiles and sewing essential, some experience in supporting individuals with learning disabilities desired but not essential**

Main duties of the job
Your day-to-day...
1. Plan and prepare projects
2. Make samples for display or to sell
3. Encourage and support service users to create a piece of work using their own imagination
4. Teach sewing / knitting / weaving and other creative skills using a person centred approach
5. Plan and organise trips out visiting galleries / museums etc
6. Clearing away and cleaning textiles at the end of the shift
7. Will need to drive to other services to pick up and drop off service users
8. Be able to communicate with Managers in other services to update care plans
9. Be competent in managing textiles petty cash
10. Ensure fire register is available and filled in daily
