Accountant – (Associate Finance Business Partner)
Salary & Benefits: £41,679 - £52,099 per annum dependant on experience, annual bonus, attractive pension scheme (Up to 10% company contribution), life assurance cover of 4 times pensionable salary and 25 days annual leave, bank holidays plus a wellness day and development opportunities in line with the accountant progression plan. We have an exciting opportunity for an Accountant to join the Finance Team at Yorkshire Water, developing into a Finance business partner role and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?
You’ll need to be a qualified accountant (or training) with excellent stakeholder engagement experience to be that “critical friend” to the business.
1. Your commercial acumen will enable you to challenge Leadership Teams to ensure all costs are spent wisely with our customers in mind;
2. Working effectively in a matrix team you’ll showcase improving processes and insight across finance;
3. You’ll build relationships across finance teams, questioning and challenging, ensuring the data makes sense before being shared;
4. Presenting key trends and performance through clearly written reports will be a key skill.
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about commercial delivery, enjoys building strong relationships across the business and is curious about trends and insights.
You’ll be a part of the Finance Business Partner team which provides support and challenge to Wastewater delivery operations.

Where you fit in:
As our Accountant (Associated finance business partner) you will
5. Gradually becoming an integral member of the Wastewater process and pumping leadership team
6. Providing support and challenge to the leadership team to ensure delivery of financials budgets whilst maintaining performance
7. Responsible for support maintenance of financial ledger activities to ensure all reporting deadlines are achieved, with continuous improvement working with budget managers to getting costing correct right first time
8. Responsible for support of best practice processes associated with above
9. Responsible for support of financial controls
10. Ensure accounting transactions are completed to meet deadlines (accruals / journals and financial close etc)
11. Ensure financial processes are adhered to and they are all documented in a consistent format and level of detail
12. Lead and support and/or deliver ad hoc finance projects
13. Lead and support the delivery of the Business Planning process for your respective business area, with best practice shared
What skills & qualifications you will need:
14. Part qualified or qualified by relevant experience to the role
15. Ability to work flexibly within a team
16. Ability to develop, maintain and leverage value from an internal & external network
17. Good communication skills, both oral & written, including the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial specialists
18. Initiative to work unsupervised and prioritise in order to meet tight deadlines regularly
19. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a good attention to detail
20. Experienced, in use of financial systems, SAP
21. Good excel skills and knowledge
