Cleaner/Facilities Officer
Location: Canterbury/Dover & Folkestone
Contract: Temp to Perm
Days: Monday - Friday & some weekends
Hours: 06:00 - 22:30 rota - 37 hours
Hourly Rate: £11.62
We are seeking a dedicated Cleaning & Maintenance Operative to work in the Education sector to join our client's team in ensuring the upkeep, maintenance, and security of local schools across Canterbury, Dover & Folkestone. The ideal candidate will possess a range of skills and qualifications to effectively assist in maintaining the school's facilities and grounds to the highest standards.
This is a temp to perm position for the right candidate. A full UK driving licence is required. An Enhanced DBS check will be necessary.
Responsibilities:
To ensure the trust buildings are adequately opened or closed whilst ensuring the safety of site users and site security combined.
To undertake cleaning duties as directed to a high standard, allocation of duties may include some or all of the following, cleaning of toilets and hand basins, maintaining cleanliness of all flooring and carpeted areas by sweeping, mopping, buffing and the use of the carpet cleaning machine as and when required, removal of marks to painted surfaces, removal of general and recyclable waste to the appropriate waste refuse areas.
Assist with planned maintenance, ad-hoc repairs and undertake works to the school's buildings and grounds to a very high standard.
Assist in maintaining the security of school premises, buildings, and grounds. Conduct routine checks and inspections of roadways, car parks, cycle racks, fencing & gates.
Support in maintaining, operating, and testing all alarm systems.
Play an active role in compliance checks and ensuring adherence to safety regulations.
Carry out tasks related to the cleanliness and organisation of the premises as needed.
Develop full knowledge of all emergency procedures.
Identifying, reporting and rectifying hazards
Supervise on-site contractors and provide access as and when required.
Setup and take down of internal/external events as and when required.
Assist in the movement of furniture as and when required.
Assist with other departments as required including the cleaning team.
Requirements:
Proven experience in an facilities & operational role
Skills in electrical installation/maintenance (Edition 18), plumbing, painting & decorating, carpentry & ground maintenance
Full UK driving licence & own transport essential due to location
Enhanced DBS check
Experience of working with Computer Assisted Facilities Management Software (CAFM) - desired.
Proven experience in maintenance operations
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to prioritise tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
