Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Ultrasound Team as an Imaging Department Assistant. The successful applicant is required to provide a supportive role to the Ultrasound team ensuring the delivery of an efficient and effective service. The post will be based at County Hospital.
You will work as part of the team to give the best quality of service by assisting sonographers, nurses, and medical staff by carrying out non-radiographic clinical and non-clinical tasks within the Maternity and General Medical Ultrasound Departments throughout the Imaging Directorate.
The successful candidate will be experienced in healthcare and/or working with the public. Be flexible to the department needs, covering various shift patterns. We are looking for someone who can be fully flexible to cover shifts, mainly Monday to Friday and evening, although some weekend work may be required.
A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is required for the post.
Main duties of the job
A caring, co-operative, and flexible approach to working practices is required whilst maintaining a professional attitude for the dignity and well-being of the patient. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required with experience of direct patient care desirable but not essential.
Duties include general patient care, some data input and clerical duties, keeping the department safe and clean, liaising with ward staff, porters, radiographers, administrative staff, and patients to make sure the department runs smoothly.
Confidentiality is vitally important and basic computer knowledge/skills are essential along with the ability to work as part of a team.
