Reporting to the Dispensary Manager you will be within the dispensing team serving the patients of Collingham and Thorner.
Working as part of a busy, friendly dispensing team, you possess a natural ability to provide friendly and courteous customer service and have good communication skills.
Main duties of the job
As an integral part of the team you will contribute to the consistent delivery of the highest quality of care to our patients. We are looking for 22 hours over 3 days. (Tuesday, Thursday and Friday)
Qualifications and skills: you will have a minimum of one years experience working as a dispenser and hold an NVQ Level 2 qualification.
It is essential that applicants have a good standard of general education and possess excellent keyboard and IT skills.
Our dispensary team work over our two sites at Collingham Church View Surgery and our Thorner branch surgery.
Part-time, 22 hours per week over 3 days.

JOB TITLE: DISPENSER
REPORTS TO: DISPENSARY MANAGER
Job Summary :
To be responsible for theprocessing of prescriptions in accordance with practice policy and legislation,in addition, the post holder will be required to support the Dispensary Managerin ensuring a high level of service is delivered at all times and effectivefinancial control of the dispensary.
To undertake as required a limitedrange of reception duties at our branch surgery.
Duties & Responsibilities :
Issuing stock items and preparedprescriptions
Collection of prescriptioncharges/checking patient exemption statements
Dispensing acute prescriptions
To ensure that all medicines andappliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there isdoubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labellinginstructions to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor.
Operation of efficient stockcontrol appropriate to the needs of the dispensary with the objective ofensuring continuity of supply for patients and minimising wastage
Checking goods as and when they aredelivered and recording generic details. Stocking shelves, refrigerators usingrotation method.
Ensure drugs are received andstored in an appropriate manner in accordance with manufacturersinstructions. Any fridge items arestored at appropriate temperature and temperature control log.
Remove out of date stock from theshelves, refrigerator.
Disposal of patient returned unusedmedicines using the yellow burns bin, or any CD to be disposed followingprocedure.
Dispensing and checking repeatprescriptions
Taking orders for repeats anddealing with queries from support staff
Dealing with queries from patientsregarding their prescriptions
Use computer to keep records up todate
Ordering Drugs through the computersystem to the wholesalers
Handling prescription money orother private money through the card machine or cash.
To ensure that all monies receivedor handled on behalf of the practice are appropriately stored and banked and arecord kept of all financial transactions
Assist when required to meettargets in relation to dispensing doctors scheme
Dispensing private prescriptions
Checking colleagues dispensing
Ensuring the Dispensary arearemains clean and tidy
Ensure controlled Drugs (CDs) areordered, handled and recorded appropriately
Sorting, stamping and endorsingprescriptions
Ensure all prescription money isbalanced daily and queries resolved at the time of balancing and sufficientchange is available.
Give advice on HC1 forms orprepayment form to assist patients with costs
Monthly out of date emergency bagand doctors bags, remove stock and update practice records and reorder wherenecessary
Ensure all items are ready for thedelivery service marking prescription bags to highlight any additional items

To answer telephone calls &passing on messages as appropriate
Dealing with problems &enquiries
Inputting information onto computer
To work flexibly within the team& to provide cover for annual leave/sickness
To collect all due prescriptioncharges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 isduly filled in and signed by the patient/Dispenser
To promptly forward all invoicesand dispensary related correspondence to the Dispensary Manager according topractice policy.
To take prompt action in responseto any drug alert bulletins that may be received from time to time.
To undertake any necessary work asmay be required and appropriate to maintain a high standard and efficientdispensing service.
