Your role:
This role will report into the Head of Investments and have Fund management responsibilities for specific Society investment funds, including trading. It will have joint responsibility for Wesleyan’s global equity and fixed income research. The Purpose of this role is to maximise investment returns, subject to appropriate risk controls and fund constraints, whilst assisting in the generation of investment ideas and strategy for the wider team through fundamental research and analysis.
In this role you will run our ‘low risk’ fund range, so a strong background in credit markets would be preferable, although a small element of equity holdings are permitted in some of our low risk funds.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Fund Management responsibility (including risk control and liquidity monitoring) for specific investment funds, which will be monitored for performance purposes against agreed peer groups and benchmarks.
2. Benchmarks will be used to assess investment performance and other factors, including Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) elements.
3. Deputy Fund Management responsibilities where appropriate.
4. Equity, Fixed Income and Treasury trading duties on behalf of all Society investment funds.
5. Reporting to Executive, Investment Committee, With Profits Committee, ALCO, Board and Trustees, as required.
6. Report writing and investment-related communication responsibilities, including marketing requirements, relating to investments, as required.
7. Shared responsibility for implementing Wesleyan’s approach to Sustainable Investing.
8. Shared responsibility for Wesleyan’s trading activities and investment systems.
9. Shared responsibility for Wesleyan’s macroeconomic research and associated strategies.
We’re looking for:
· Needs to be adjudged as FCA competent for discretionary investment management.
· A suitable professional qualification, such as CFA charter holder or equivalent.
· Practical experience of fund management or investment markets (Bonds experience required)
· Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
· Self-starter with a good eye for detail.
· Strong analytical qualities.
· Team player strengths.
