Are you a qualified social worker keen for a new challenge setting up a new service? If so, we are seeking to recruit a brand new innovate role as Lead Social Worker for Sussex CAMHS Acute. Working in a team & autonomously you will be key in the assessment of need, delivery of interventions and be responsible for managing the key partnership relationships for the young people accessing CAMHS Acute care.
The Getting it Right First Time (GIRFT-2022) report highlights the 'importance of ensuring young people receive the right treatment close to home and make sure that their family, social and educational networks do not break down'. The aim of the service is to provide time limited, interventions to manage a period of 'crisis' or interventions as an alternative to admission to support the local network around the young person (aged 12-18) whilst they are in the acute stage of mental health difficulties. You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team alongside nursing, psychiatry, psychologists, family therapy support workers and mental health practitioners.
The Lead Social Worker will be integral to overseeing the supported discharge pathway and reducing length of stay for young people who are accessing inpatient care. Working with partners in the local area of the young person this role will advocate and co-ordinate the care for the young person to ensure they are discharged in timely, safe and smooth way to promote the best outcomes for the young person.
Main duties of the job
1. To lead the Social Work profession across CAMHS Acute Intensive Home Treatment Team developing clinical initiatives and strategic plans for social work in conjunction with the Professional Lead for Social Work in CAMHS, providing clinical leadership and expert opinion to the directorate.
2. To facilitate Social Workers to become involved in-service planning and decision making.
3. To ensure effective professional supervision structures for the Social Work workforce across the service and the completion of their appraisals.
4. Undertake other roles and tasks as required by the Service Leads.
5. To demonstrate a thorough understanding of relevant legislation, such as: Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Human Rights Act, Care Act and Children Act.
6. To work jointly with Team Managers and the CAMHS Professional Leads with regard to the recruitment and retention of clinicians and other staff as appropriate in the designated area.
7. As a guide Clinical practice should take up no more than 60% of working time with remaining 40% of the working week being allocated to Clinical Leadership tasks (supervision, recruitment, Education, Service development, Implementation of Professional Strategy). This may be flexible depending on changing demands and needs of the service.

Job responsibilities
1. Clinical To lead alongside Team Managers, and other Lead Clinicians on ensuring the highest quality of clinical care is delivered within the service.
2. Operate as a highly skilled Social Work practitioner to provide specialist interventions and manage an appropriate clinical caseload of clients with highly complex and challenging needs, demonstrating knowledge of professional models of practice.
3. Lead on and promote evidence-based practice in social work across the CAMHS Acute pathway.
4. Monitor, evaluate and modify treatment in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of interventions.
5. Provide highly specialist mental health assessment, formulation, intervention, review and where appropriate CPA including care co-ordination for the young people we work with, their families and carers.
6. Lead the development of multi-disciplinary best practice clinical guidelines and protocols.
7. Supervise the work of more junior staff and provide support and guidance.
8. Ensure that up to date written and electronic records and activity data are maintained in accordance with Professional and Trust standards and to provide specialist social work reports relevant to the practice setting.
9. Ensure that all clinical care and development is informed and shaped by the relevant social work professional standards.
10. Ensure that clinical, support and administrative services are designed and delivered to achieve the highest standards of patient care.
11. To ensure excellence in clinical practice and that service delivery is based on NICE guidelines.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Recognised professional qualification in Social Work - Registered with the appropriate professional body - Social Work England
* Evidence of continued professional development - Educated to master's degree level or equivalent
* Practice assessor/ Supervisor training
* Practising AMHP
Physical skills
* Driving for significant distances across the designated area.
Knowledge/Experience
* Substantial experience in mental health after completing core professional qualification.
* Experience of leadership.
* Experience of service development.
* Wide knowledge of local and national policy and knowledge with regards to legislation, MHA/ MCA, S117, Human Rights Act.
* Evidence of advanced clinical skills.
