Main duties of the job
Your role will be to support the registered nurses within both ward and day unit areas.
You will provide some direct care to children under the supervision of registered nurses.
There is also a large focus on playing with the children to gain their co-operation, especially during medical procedures. You will be expected to support the play specialist/playworker within your role.
You will be expected to learn how to take blood and also support the child during blood taking.
You will also need to ensure that all infection control precautions are adhered to.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* GCSE English and Maths grade C or 4 or Functional skills for English/Maths
* Care Certificate
Desirable criteria
* Education and training to NVQ level 3/Work based diploma or equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria
* Relevant experience of working in Health or Social Care Environment delivering personal care
Desirable criteria
* Relevant experience working in the NHS
