About the role
As an Investment Analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown (HL), you will be responsible for the analysis and research of investments with a focus on funds, selecting those with the best long-term potential on the Wealth Shortlist for HL clients.
Working with an experienced team and reporting to the Lead Investment Analyst, you’ll act as a specialist in the analysis of allocated funds and investment sectors, sharing knowledge and guiding team discussions. You will also be producing relevant, insightful, in-depth sector reviews, investment articles and fund updates to be shared on the HL website and in the Investment Times to help clients save and invest with confidence and attract new clients.
What you’ll be doing
1. Taking responsibility for the in-depth analysis of funds in allocated investment association sectors, with the flagship output for this research being proposals for Wealth Shortlist addition or removal
2. Steering Q&A meetings with external Fund Managers, forming the cornerstone of our qualitative research to express an informed view of the fund's prospects
3. Writing investment content including in-depth quarterly sector reviews, specialist articles for the HL website and the Investment Times, and fund updates for the benefit of HL clients
4. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of sectors by analysing quantitative and qualitative data, producing a monthly dashboard to discuss with the research team
5. Using your knowledge and access to support HL’s Financial Advisors and Helpdesk colleagues to respond to investment-specific client queries
About you
6. Experience in the critical analysis of quantitative data to evaluate investment potential
7. Excellent knowledge of markets, investment trends and current affairs
8. Ability to be proactive and multi-task to prioritise workload and manage time efficiently
9. Proven understanding of a broad range of asset classes and investment styles
10. Ability to stay calm and professional under pressure
11. Skilled in building professional relationships with internal and external contacts
12. Engaging writing skills and astute attention to detail, with an understanding of tone of voice guidelines
13. Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and/ or an appropriate industry qualification up to RQF Level 4 (e.g. IMC plus R04, CII Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning) will be beneficial to your success as an Investment Analyst
Interview process
Will entail a 2-stage interview process, including competency based questions and a writing task
Working Schedule
This is a full time, permanent role working 37.5 hours per week. Hybrid working is available - based in our head office in Bristol, BS1 5HL, with a minimum of two days in the office per week
