JOB TITLE: Service Engineer
SALARY: The salary banding for this role in Edinburgh is £62,874 - £69,860
LOCATION: Edinburgh
HOURS: 35 hours, full time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.
In the Economic Crime Prevention (ECP) Platform, our mission is to reduce harm to our communities by enhancing the Group's capability to prevent, detect and respond to economic crime. The Platform sits within Consumer Relationships and plays a critical role in providing services across the whole Group.
We are looking to recruit a Service Engineer who will utilise their experience to play an instrumental role within the Service Engineering team to identify and respond to incidents and problems all whilst displaying the right behaviors and qualities that will empower the team.
Here’s how you’ll make a difference:
Subject matter expert supporting incident, problem and change across several applications within the platform.
Support the planning of the strategy for the service team.
Build capability and the skillset to ensure the service team is ready for incoming and future new services.
Train and upskill others across the team on the new solutions and stay close to other potential migrations.
Creation and retention of Documentation to run service.
Work with service leads to identify trends and support in adding service blockers onto the Lab backlogs.
Look for ways to continuously improve our ways of working.
What we need from you:
Demonstrates a strong comprehension and work history of ITIL disciplines
Passionate about providing the best customer experience.
To communicate effectively and can build working relationships with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, ranging from software engineers to senior business leaders.
Comfortable with challenging stakeholders and can explain technical and complex scenarios using inclusive and accessible language.
Is used to operating in a highly pressurised environment and can remain calm in situations whilst maintaining focus.
Has an appetite to continuously improve.
Is innovative and takes an interest in industry best practices
Analytical, can analyse incident data and explore patterns to help mitigate risks.
What will be Desirable
Knowledge of modern software development toolsets including Cloud platforms Containers, Kubernetes, API’s.
Experience in working with Dynatrace and Splunk.
Proven experience in hands-on Service engineering using a broad range of technologies including those listed below.
Microservices
Java
Unix / Storm/ Spark
