Our core business activities are teaching and learning, widening access to education, research and innovation and technology and knowledge transfer. - THE ROLE - The University wishes to appoint a Financial Accountant to provide a professional service on all financial accounting matters in the Finance department of the university. The financial accounting section is responsible for the preparation of statutory financial accounts, treasury management, compliance with statutory and financial regulations and procedures including VAT, financial controls and fixed assets accounting. The role holder will play a lead role in the provision of VAT and other tax advice across the University and provide management information and advice in the making of business decisions at a senior level within the University. - ABOUT YOU - - Qualified accountant in one of the following bodies: CIMA, ACA, ACCA, CIPFA or CPA - Significant post qualification experience in an accounting environment in a large complex organisation (minimum turnover greater than £10m) or experience in an accountancy practice with a portfolio of large complex clients, including the preparation/auditing of statutory financial accounts. - Experience in provision of financial information and advice to senior management including advice on development of financial procedures and policies. - Experience in VAT matters for an organisation/large complex clients or experience in the provision of taxation advice to a large organisation/large complex clients - Experience in the use of a computerised financial accounting system, including a sound working knowledge of spreadsheets. - Willingness to travel between campuses and elsewhere to attend meetings, as required by the needs of the post.
