JOB TITLE: INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Carry out isolations and de-isolations as required and perform preventative and restorative maintenance duties and tasks safely and effectively on installation systems and equipment.
2. Provide technical assistance and support during steady operations, process shutdowns, and start-ups.
3. Limited Authorized Electrical Person, Grade C, when nominated and deemed competent by the authorising engineer in accordance with the client electrical Rules
4. Isolate / de-isolate in accordance with Company Operating Procedures and Electrical Safety standards.
5. Fire and Gas Systems as required and directed
6. Safety systems and equipment
7. Identified metering equipment as required and directed
8. Telecommunications systems, as required and directed
9. Amend software as required and in accordance with the company's Software Change Control procedures
10. Safeguarding the reliability, availability and “fit for purpose” operational condition of safety and control equipment and systems sufficient to meet the operational availability targets of the installation
11. Perform all necessary servicing, conditioning, fault diagnosis and restorative maintenance duties and tasks safely, efficiently and effectively on

17. Telecommunications systems and equipment under the supervision, when necessary, of a specialist contractor
18. Assist specialist contractor personnel as necessary in the undertaking and execution of preventative and corrective maintenance activity and tasks on the Instrumentation equipment
19. Re-prioritise preventative maintenance work as necessary to accommodate unforeseen corrective maintenance tasks to enable safety and production to be sustained and / or restored.
20. Cooperate with the Petrofac Supervisor to coordinate the activities of the Instrument Technicians as necessary
21. Act as competent person, when required, in witnessing contractor tests on safety and control systems and equipment
22. Ensure work programmes and schedules are completed safely, efficiently, effectively and within planned timescales
23. Ensure all jobs are accompanied by the necessary and accurately completed documentation
24. Provide technical knowledge and experience in diagnosing and resolving maintenance and / or operational problems and identifying opportunities for improvement
25. Prepare work orders and work permits, requiring isolation as appropriate to progress maintenance activities
26. Input accurate data into SAP for recording of working time (Time writing) and historical data
27. Diagnose and rectify faults to maximise equipment availability and report all defects to management
28. Carry out effective troubleshooting to maximize Plant efficiency, identify spares required, and initiate ordering of same
