Main duties of the job
1. Providingassessment, screening and treatment services and health education advice
2. Providenursing treatments to patients in participation with general practitioners or independentlyto agreed protocols.
3. Providegeneral and specific health screenings to the practice patients (within agreedprotocols) with referral to general practitioners as necessary.
4. Advisepatients on general health care and minor ailments with referral to GPs asnecessary;

Job responsibilities
To provide andmaintain a high standard of nursing care for patients, as well as providingnursing assistance to the doctors and other members of the primary healthcareteam. The duties will include all tasksnormally undertaken by an experienced RGN and any additional roles agreedbetween the nurse and the doctors as appropriate, having regard to currenttraining.
Typical duties include:
9. holding patient consultations within the surgery
10. carrying out physical examinations and tests such as cervical smear
11. treating wounds
12. applying and removing dressings
13. giving advice, education and information about stopping smoking and losing weight
14. taking patient samples, swabs and specimens, and checking pulses, temperatures and blood pressures
15. administering immunisations, travel vaccinations and infant injections
16. writing records and keeping patients notes up to date
17. assisting GPs with minor procedures.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
18. Registered nurse with current NMC registration and active PIN
Desirable
19. Minimum 2 years experience post registration.
