This Project Engineer (33kV SAP) will report to the Lead Operational Engineer and will work within UKPN Services based in our Bury St Edmunds office. You will be a permanent employee.
You will attract a salary of £76,229 plus car and a bonus of 3%.

Job Purpose
Deliver projects in the DNO and Private sectors for our high-profile clients. The role includes capital programme and NAMP projects in addition to electrical infrastructure works generated from the long-term operation and maintenance of 33kV/11kV/400V private network contracts. While you will work in Bury St Edmunds, the work is spread over East Anglia and the South East of England. You may also work on other similar projects across the UK Power Networks Services portfolio.
We are looking for an experienced 33kV Operational Project Engineer to work with the existing Project Team to provide the business with 33kV engineering support for specific critical 33kV activities including standby and emergency cover associated with electrical distribution equipment and infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
* Ensure safety management throughout all responsibilities.
* Responsible for delivery of all construction, maintenance and fault works to time, cost and quality.
* Ensure compliance with all procedures and work to a high standard of quality.
* Daily planning, coordination and real-time responsibility for the efficient utilisation of resources.
* Collaborate with HV/LV control – submission of HV/LV switching schedules, complete HV/LV network operations in accordance to distribution safety rules and procedures.
* Support and provide technical support to field staff.
* Produce Risk Assessments and Method Statements for the safe delivery of projects work.
* Complete quality assurance checks of works completed and rectify any quality issues identified.
* Collaborate with and manage relationships with our customers to meet their expectations wherever possible.
* Assist other sections e.g. organisational changes, system emergencies as determined by your skills and experience.
* Complete out of hours safety/emergency response (Standby).
* Manage contractors, carrying out high and low voltage maintenance activities.
Qualifications:
* Senior Authorised Person up to and including 33kV as defined by the Distribution Safety Rules (this must be in date and for a UK Distribution Network Operator).
* HNC Electrical Engineering.
* Experience in distribution systems through the range 400v to 33kV.
* High level of customer focus, adds value to the customer and ensures the team completes all projects to customer expectations.
* Team working, manages and integrates well in a team and promotes good teamwork.
* Expected to achieve full Ministry of Defence Security Clearance.
* Identify problems, understand important issues and investigate alternatives.
* Hold full driving licence.
* Work independently to manage and prioritise a varied workload, and communicate with people at all levels.
* Work as part of a small team committed to the delivery of a high-profile project.
* Use Microsoft Office suite, Outlook, MS Project and other custom software packages.
* Understanding of Health and Safety and Environmental Legislation, CDM standards and focused on safe working.
* Initiative, acts in the interest of the company to develop the business to agreed goals.
* Note: Candidates working towards full SAP status may be considered at a lower salary scale together with an agreed progression plan.

* Familiarity with relevant safety legislation and compliance with necessary statutory requirements, including the Health & Safety at Work Act, Fire Precautions Act and associated regulations.
