Head of Engineering Role Summary:
The Head of Engineering is a key leadership role that oversees the Mobile, Middleware/Product and Web Software Engineering teams. The position reports to the Director of Technology & Engineering and is part of the Technology & Engineering Leadership Team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and direct a team of Software Engineers, providing coaching, mentoring and support to drive team capability and ensure appropriate training and development.
* Ensure project delivery within agreed budget, on time and to scope, with accurate estimates and engagement with clients throughout the SDLC.
* Develop a high-performing engineering function through a leadership team of Engineering Managers & Principal Engineers, providing clear direction and trusting them to lead their own teams.
Requirements:
* Confident, technically astute leader with strong coaching, mentoring and feedback ethos.
* Experience in managing Agile software development across multiple teams, including complex problem solving and tight deadlines.
* Significant experience in managing and mentoring Software Engineers in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong technical background with experience leading technical teams.
* Excellent communication and analytical skills, with ability to go beyond basic requirements and put oneself in the users' shoes.

Location: London/Newcastle – Hybrid Salary: £120,000 - £150,000 per annum
