Exciting Opportunity for a Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant Specialising in Autism Support in Plymouth!

We are looking for a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team in a primary school in Plymouth.
The Role:
* Position: SEN Teaching Assistant - Autism Support (Full Time)
* Hours: 6.5 hours per day, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
* Start Date: ASAP
* Duration: Potential to lead to a permanent role for the right candidate
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide invaluable support to children with autism, helping them engage, communicate, and succeed in a structured learning environment. Your main responsibilities will include:
* Providing Individualised Support: Working one-on-one with students with autism, adapting activities to meet their unique needs, strengths, and interests.
* Creating a Positive Learning Environment: Helping to establish a calm, structured classroom setting that fosters routine, confidence, and independence.
* Supporting Social and Communication Skills: Assisting children in developing communication skills, understanding social cues, and expressing themselves in a supportive environment.
* Promoting Emotional Well-being: Understanding and addressing each child’s emotional needs, implementing strategies to reduce anxiety and encourage positive engagement.
* Collaborating with the SEN Team: Working closely with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure consistent support, monitor progress, and adjust plans as needed.
* Providing Personal Care and Assistance: Supporting children with daily routines, personal care, and sensory needs to ensure their comfort and well-being.
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience in an SEN setting, particularly with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
* Level 2 or 3 qualification in education or care is advantageous but not required
* Strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and familiarity with SEN strategies
* DBS on the update service or willingness to complete a new one
