Senior/ Lead Corrosion Engineer
Location: Preferable UK, but also candidates from different countries will be considered.

Lloyd's Register is seeking a Senior/Lead Corrosion Engineer to join our renowned Materials Team within the Global Offshore Technical Support Office (TSO). You'll drive critical corrosion control strategies, cathodic protection system designs, and cutting-edge material selection for offshore oil, gas, and wind projects. Collaborate with global experts, contribute to pioneering technologies like hydrogen and CCUS, and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of offshore industries.
What we're looking for
The role will primarily involve the appraisal of cathodic protection designs, coatings, material selection, and corrosion control for offshore projects.
A smaller part of the role includes the following activities:
* Assessment of technical queries
* Technical support to LR Surveyors
* Maintenance and development of LR Rules and guidance documents
* Internal research and technology projects in emerging technologies such as hydrogen, CCUS, and ammonia
* Representing LR on committees and at conferences
What You Bring
This role requires specialist knowledge and experience in corrosion protection, science, and engineering and their application in the offshore industry. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong background in cathodic protection system design.
There are specific requirements, namely:
* A degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in corrosion or corrosion-related subject
* Competency in cathodic protection design, coatings, and materials selection
* Experience in the offshore industry
* Working knowledge of applicable offshore design codes and standards
* Recognised industry training, qualifications, and experience in cathodic protection system design (e.g. AMPP CP3, ISO 15257 level 3 or higher) and in coatings (AMPP, ICorr) (preferred)
* Competency in onshore ICCP (preferred)
You will need to be driven and adaptable and be able to use your in-depth understanding and your professional experience to assess technical queries and novel problems. A high level of proficiency in the English language, the ability to work and communicate effectively with colleagues across the organisation, to be responsive to urgent requests for technical advice, and to work in a team of specialists in related disciplines and with clients to identify and resolve technical issues will be required to succeed in this role.
